WMU Running Back Brandon West after Western Michigan's loss to Central Michigan.

KALAMAZOO – With all of the passing records being broken you might have thought Western Michigan had dominated Central Michigan Saturday evening.  It was the Chippewa’s however who took down the Broncos for the 4th straight season 34-23.

Hiller set the all time record for touchdown passes in a career at WMU firing his 88th and 89th touchdowns which also tied Byron Leftwich for 2nd all-time in Mid-American Conference history.  Hiller even went as far as breaking the WMU career record for completions in a career with 876.

All of that was overshadowed however by a strong Central Michigan offense and some costly turnovers by Hiller.  After tying the game at 13 the Bronco defense couldn’t stop Dan LeFevour’s Chippewa offense which took a 20-13 lead before Hiller threw an interception with under 30 seconds to play in the half.

The interception was returned to the Broncos 2 yard line before Central scored to make it 27-13 headed into the 2nd half.

From there the Broncos were unable to stop Central Michigan and Hiller simply couldn’t find his range in key plays.  Hiller finished the day with 66 passing attempts (another WMU record) 40 completions, 410 yards passing , 2 touchdowns and 1 interception in defeat.

The loss drops the Broncos to 3-4 on the season while the Chippewa’s are off to a 6-1 start with their only loss coming in game 1 of the season to Arizona.  Next week the Broncos welcome Buffalo into Waldo Stadium for a MAC West VS MAC East showdown beginning at 2PM.

WKZO.COM will be hosting a LIVE tailgate broadcast on WKZO.COM on Oliver Street across from Lot 95 and Waldo Stadium beginning at 11AM.
