Stabenow Hails Unemployment Insurance Extension
WASHINGTON -- The extension of jobless benefits for out of work Michigan residents is being Senator Debbie Stabenow is praising President Obama for signing the Emergency Unemployment Compensation Act of 2009. The new law extends long-term unemployment benefits in Michigan by 20 weeks, and also provides tax refunds to businesses that have been hit by the economic recession.
It also has the expansion of the successful first-time homebuyer tax credit. Stabenow says the aid is necessary for workers in Michigan as they retrain for new jobs in the work force.
